John Herman spent a long time in his life in military structures alongside global freedom movements. This activity shaped his mind and body into a lethal weapon to fight fascism and defend the wretched of the earth. As a freedom fighter, he was forced to take on great “ guilt „, which he still has to bear.

More than 14 years ago, it was time for him to leave behind the destructive world of war in order to transform his mind and body once again into a creative, vulnerable being. Performance art was and is the tool in this painful process of transition.

For this, it is not enough to bury one’s weapons and take off one’s uniform. To shed the inner uniform requires much more in terms of time. For John Herman, this process is a long-term performance of its own, which has not yet come to a conclusion.
